Safety
As
a depositor you need to know that your savings are secure. This is in our best
interest as well as your own. The services we provide have been fully designed
to guarantee a secure return on your savings.
The security we provide is the result of our many years of experience in financial and banking services. LeasePlan Bank is a member of LeasePlan Corporation N.V., a Dutch financial services provider. As world market leader we distinguish ourselves from our competitors by our extensive international network of own companies in 30 countries on the one hand, and by the knowledge and expertise which we have acquired over the past 45 years on the other. LeasePlan Corporation N.V. is regarded as the founder and driving force behind the present car leasing industry, a position that allows it to play an active role in the (international) financial markets. LeasePlan Corporation N.V. was granted its banking license in 1993 and falls under the supervision of De Nederlandsche Bank.
Deposit guarantee scheme
In addition to the fact that our expertise guarantees secure savings, saving
money at LeasePlan Bank also falls under the deposit guarantee scheme of De
Nederlandsche Bank. This scheme guarantees (until 31-12-2010) the repayment of
your savings up to € 100,000 in the Netherlands should the bank at which your
funds are deposited go bankrupt. Whether or not you are included in this scheme
is subject to a number of conditions. For details, please refer to
‘About us’.
How are your savings being used?
In addition to the security provided by our expertise and the deposit guarantee
scheme, it is important to know that your funds are put to good use. After all,
it is the way in which your money is invested that determines both profitability
and continuity of the bank. LeasePlan Bank is in the unique position that it can
invest savings in a secure and sound way. The savings deposits are largely used
by LeasePlan Corporation N.V. by investing in the financing of lease contracts
with clients.
Secure online savings
LeasePlan Bank pays much attention to the verification of your identity, so that
only you have access to your savings. In order to open an account, you need to
specify your citizen service number (former tax and national insurance number)
and your Chamber of Commerce registration number (for business accounts).
Moreover, the first deposit can only be made from your linked account (this is a
Dutch bank account). Any transfer of funds from your savings account can only be
made into your linked account.
There are several additional precautions that you can take yourself:
- Make sure that your computer is virus-free. Install a virus scanner and firewall, and be sure to download the latest updates for them regularly. Only download and install software from senders you know and trust.
- Check that the page is secure (the padlock on your browser window) and verify the website's certificate.
- Ensure that the web address begins with ‘https’. The ‘s’ in ‘https’ stands for ‘secure,’ and shows that you are in the LeasePlan Bank secure environment.
- Make sure that only you know your password; do not give it to anyone else. Employees of LeasePlan Bank will never ask you for your password.
- If you ever log in from a public computer, always make sure you log out after your session.
- Never open e-mail attachments unless you are sure what the content of the attachment is. If the sender of the e-mail is known to you but you are not sure about the attachment, you are best advised to not open the attachment. Criminals are known to use the names of other people in sending e-mails that contain viruses.
